We leave Atlin in the morning heading west into Torres Channel past Atlin Mountain where you have excellent viewing opportunities for Mountain Goat.

We will then travel through either the First or Second Narrows and into Llewellyn Inlet where we will enjoy a shore lunch and then start our hike to the glacier. The small creek coming down from Llewellyn Glacier was determined by a national geographic expedition to be the source of the mighty Yukon River.
Llewellyn Glacier is the largest glacier draining from the Juneau Ice Field feeding Atlin Lake. The Juneau Ice Field itself is one of the largest ice fields on the continent.
On our way back to Atlin we will take the east side of the lake. Along this route we will have a close view of islands, beautiful bays and coves. Finding wildlife, such as Moose and Bear (Black or Grizzly) roaming the shores is not uncommon. And bird watchers will be happy to see the abundant bird life on Atlin Lake.

Guided Houseboat Tours (Multi Day)
Day 1
After arriving in Atlin your guide will take you on a walking tour of the town, showing you historic sights and providing the opportunity to shop. Once settled on board a comfortable and fully equipped houseboat, your guide will introduce you to the houseboat and as you familiarize yourself with your home on the lake, your guide will cast off.
The first leg of your journey will take you from the town of Atlin across the lake into Torres Channel and the base of Atlin Mountain, where there are excellent opportunities to view mountain goats.
Torres Channel is framed by the Coast Mountains to the West and Teresa Island to the East where you will witness the spectacular mountain vistas and year round snow covered mountain peaks. It is not uncommon to see bear and moose swimming across Torres Channel.
As evening approaches your guide will moor the houseboat at one of the secluded bays to enjoy a private beach and a meal cooked by your guide over an open campfire. As you relax by the flickering firelight and the gentle lapping of the water, your guide will entertain you with tales from Atlin's history and local folklore. If the desire to explore beckons you, feel free to roam the beach or take a little hike.

Along the way it is common to see mountain goat on the slopes and bear in the hills feeding on greenery and berries. Your guide will point out animal tracks and flora and fauna.
